| MISSION
STATEMENT
The
mission of “VETERANS FIRST!” is to facilitate fulfillment
of the needs of the veterans of the United States armed services
in their dealings with the Veterans Administration (VA) and to otherwise
help meet their needs.
PURPOSE
STATEMENT
Many
of our American veterans are in need of help. Their needs are small
in some cases and large in others. The American veteran may need
things as simple as warm clothing, or as complex as a prosthesis,
a wheelchair van, or temporary housing. Some counties in the poorer
parts of the United States may need a van to take their veterans
to the VA hospital. One veteran may need a motorized scooter to
make just getting around an achievable task; another may need a
ramp built at their house door to be able to have some freedom of
mobility. The veterans that Veterans First intends to help were
the ones called on to march across Fortress Europe and up the Pacific
island chains. They were the veterans that froze on the march to
the Yalu River, and slogged threw the paddies of Vietnam. They were
in places like Afghanistan and Iraq. We owe them our freedom. We
owe them the peace of mind that they gave this country. The veterans
may need a place to talk to other vets just to take the edge off
of the horrors they have seen. As veterans ourselves we understand
that we don't need a lot to make our lives better. In some cases
it will be the as little as an understanding smile or a friendly
hug. In others it may be the need for a mechanical lift to get them
to the bedroom upstairs in the house they bought after they came
home from defending this great nation. History shows that veterans
have always helped each other. No one in Veterans First will check
to see if a veteran is a member of any veterans’ organization.
The fact that he/she was a brother or sister in arms will be enough
for Veterans First to lend a hand. The fact that it will be helping
a veteran that stood the test of freedom’s need is all we
need. All we will ask for is a copy of their DD-214. Once in hand,
we will do the best we can to help our veterans. If they can’t
access the right points of contact in the VA, we’ll help do
that. If the VA can’t help, we will. It will be the way it
should always be - VETERANS FIRST!
